The South West Coordinator of the Obi-Kwankwaso (OK) Movement, Adefolaseye Adebayo, has claimed that approximately 10 million Nigerians registered with the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) within 24 hours of Peter Obi joining the party.
Obi, alongside former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, recently defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the NDC ahead of the next general elections.
The move has sparked criticism in some quarters, with claims that Obi’s chances of becoming Nigeria’s president may be declining.

However, speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Adebayo dismissed the assertions, insisting that Obi’s support base spans all six geo-political zones of the country.
She emphasized that his political strength is rooted more in his personality and competence than in party affiliation.
“Mr. Peter Obi has a wide following across Nigeria. You can’t say his chances—or those of the South East—have reduced drastically,” she said.
“Within 24 hours of his exit from ADC, 10 million Nigerians registered with NDC, and that speaks volumes.”
