The meeting, involving both prominent figures of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is reportedly taking place at Amaechi’s residence in Abuja on Friday.
This development comes shortly after Amaechi’s visit to former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, in Abuja on Thursday.
It would be recalled that the ADC recently announced Amaechi as the running mate to the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party has also reportedly submitted the names of Atiku and Amaechi on the nomination portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in preparation for next year’s election.
As of the time of filing this report, the agenda and outcome of the meeting remain undisclosed
BACKSTORY:
As political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum, key opposition figures across Nigeria have intensified consultations aimed at building stronger alliances and repositioning their parties for the battle ahead. With the political landscape already heating up, several heavyweight politicians have been engaging in strategic meetings, fueling speculations about possible coalitions and power-sharing arrangements.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has in recent months emerged as one of the platforms attracting attention as politicians from different camps explore fresh options beyond the country’s traditional major parties. The growing interest in the party has been linked to efforts by some influential figures to create a formidable structure capable of challenging the ruling establishment in the next election cycle.
Among the names at the center of these political calculations are former governors, ex-ministers, and senior party stakeholders, many of whom are believed to be weighing their political future and possible roles ahead of 2027. Analysts say these consultations could shape alliances, influence candidate selections, and determine the direction of opposition politics in the coming months.
Against this backdrop, every meeting involving prominent political actors has become a subject of public interest, as observers continue to monitor the moves and strategies that may define Nigeria’s political landscape in the build-up to the next presidential election.
