The IMF cautioned Nigeria against amending the CBN Act, advising instead to strengthen the central bank. They supported raising minimum capital for banks and urged unwinding pandemic-related regulatory forbearance. The IMF also praised efforts to boost tax enforcement and scale up cash transfer programs to address food insecurity.
