Breaking news: Bandits launch a new assault in Kaduna, resulting in the abduction of 61 individuals

On Monday, in Buda community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, no fewer than 61 individuals were kidnapped in a fresh attack by bandits. Reports indicate that the assailants, numbering in large groups, stormed the community on Monday night, firing shots indiscriminately before seizing their victims.

According to resident Dauda Kajuru, the incident was horrifying. He stated that the bandits aimed to abduct a large number of people, potentially surpassing the count of school pupils in Kuriga Village of Chikun Local Government Area. However, the swift response of soldiers, who were stationed just 2 kilometers away from Kajuru, limited the casualties.

I can confide in you that during Commander Tega’s tenure, their activities ceased, and one could venture out without fear of abduction because he understood their terrain and tactics.

“It’s regrettable that Commander Tega was relocated from Kajuru Local Government at a time when peace was returning to our villages,” he lamented.

Another resident, Lawal Abdullahi, who managed to escape the abduction but whose wife was among the victims, also verified that 61 people were taken.

He disclosed that men, women, and children, including a nursing mother of two weeks, were among those abducted.

“The situation deeply distresses me as we’ve had no communication from them since the incident on Monday.

“We urge the government to act swiftly and ensure the safe return of our loved ones,” he pleaded.

Just days ago, bandits struck the Kuriga community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, seizing over 200 students and some teachers from LEA Primary School Kuriga during their morning assembly.

According to a local source who preferred to remain anonymous, the incident occurred around 8:30 am as the students were wrapping up the morning assembly. Bandits from various parts of the village converged on the school premises.

“The bandits abducted over 200 students, including both primary and secondary school students who had been relocated to the primary school from an area outside the community due to the fear of bandit attacks.”
