Obaseki: Edo Set to Lead Nigeria’s Export with Oil Palm Revolution.

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State believes the Federal Government can tackle the current foreign exchange crisis by implementing fiscal policies to encourage local production and support exports of Nigerian-made products. Obaseki shared this view during a meeting at the Government House in Benin City with the National President of the Manufacturers’ Association of Nigeria (MAN), Otunba Francis Meshioye, and other executives.

Highlighting the importance of the manufacturing sector to the nation’s economy

Highlighting the importance of the manufacturing sector to the nation’s economy, Obaseki emphasized the need for Nigeria to consume what it produces, especially amid foreign exchange challenges. He emphasized the role of MAN in redirecting the country towards manufacturing and boosting exports.

Obaseki also highlighted Edo State’s efforts in promoting economic development through its oil palm development program, which is the largest in Africa. Through initiatives like the ESOPP Programme, the state has allocated 70,000 hectares of land to seven investors for oil palm cultivation.

The National President of MAN commended the governor for his contributions to Edo’s economy, making the state an attractive destination for private sector investments.
