Fire breaks out at Dakata market in Kano, destroying properties worth billions.
A fire outbreak at a scrap market in Dakata, Kano State had led to the destruction of properties worth billions of naira.
According to the Kano State Police Command spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the incident has been confirmed with no casualties reported.
Investigations suggest that the fire originated from sparks emitted by electric poles which rapidly spread to a groundnut processing factory.
Kano State Commissioner of police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakpri, who visited the scene described the incident as tragic.
Additionally, he disclosed that a man was apprehended for attempting to steal goods from the affected area.
He further assured that a thorough investigation would be carried out to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The commissioner also praised the swift response of the fire service personnel and local residents in containing the fire.
