Nigerian Military Operation Hadin Kai has called on residents of the North East to stay alert as Muslims prepare for the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, while assuring that strong security measures have been put in place to guarantee a peaceful festive period.
The Media Information Officer of Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, issued the statement on Monday.
In the message, the military extended Sallah greetings to Muslim faithful ahead of the celebration scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, 2026.
The Theatre Command stated that comprehensive security arrangements have already been deployed across the region to ensure safety during the festivities, stressing that the protection of lives and property remains its top priority.
However, it warned of potential security risks during the period.

According to the statement, credible intelligence suggests that remnants of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters may attempt to exploit the celebrations to launch attacks on civilians, including possible suicide bombings and use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), especially in crowded locations.
The Military Command assured that these threats have been anticipated and proactively addressed.
It added that troops have been strategically positioned across key and vulnerable areas, while surveillance and intelligence systems have been fully activated. Patrols have also been intensified, with coordinated efforts involving sister security agencies, the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local vigilante groups to prevent any security breaches.
Residents were further advised to celebrate responsibly and remain security-conscious.
They were encouraged to hold Eid prayers and festivities within their local communities and to be extra vigilant in crowded places such as markets, motor parks, banks, and prayer grounds.
The public was also urged to report any suspicious individuals, abandoned objects, or unusual movements to the appropriate security authorities immediately.
