Tinubu admits harsh reality as Nigerians struggle, acknowledges tough economic pressure amid ongoing reforms

President Bola Tinubu has acknowledged that many Nigerians are still grappling with economic hardship and persistent security concerns across the country.

He made this known on Sunday while accepting the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket for the 2027 general election.

Speaking on the nation’s economic situation, Tinubu admitted the difficulties citizens are facing, particularly rising prices and ongoing economic adjustments.

“However, there are still challenges ahead. Many Nigerians continue to face difficulties with rising prices and changes in the economy.

“We take these concerns seriously; we see them and lead not from a place of ease, but with a clear understanding of the situation, guided by honesty and decisive action,” he said.

The President also admitted that insecurity remains a major issue in parts of the country despite ongoing military interventions.

“I recognize that there are still security challenges facing some areas of our great country,” he added.

Tinubu noted that his administration has increased investment in intelligence gathering, surveillance systems, and modern security technology, while also addressing the root causes of insecurity.

“We have invested in intelligence, surveillance, and new security tools, and we are working to address the underlying causes of insecurity,” he said.

Tinubu further urged the National Assembly to treat the approval of state police as a matter of urgent national importance.
