Human rights advocate Jake Epelle has voiced his displeasure with the current political climate in Rivers State and demanded an end to what he called “rubbish.”
Epelle questioned why President Bola Tinubu was unable to call Nyesom Wike to order, given their agreement with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister.
The activist, who appeared on Arise Television’s Morning Show, criticized Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), the Rivers State Sole Administrator, for appointing local government chairmen.

He said: “Fubara took a lot of mess from all of them that I, Jake, will not take. How long can you disgrace a man, including your brothers and cronies? How long can an individual call a sitting governor ‘mumu,’ and how many people have told that local government chairman to go and beg Fubara? He came out and did a fake apology.”
“Of all the things that Wike has said against Fubara, how many people have told him to go and apologize? I’m not saying there shouldn’t be room for peace.”
“I think we have taken enough of this rubbish and we must stop. All the people concerned must stop. I don’t know what covenant Wike has with the president that he can’t call him to order, that’s the problem.”
“I’m tempted to call this gentleman ‘Sole Animator’ because the whole thing looks animated. It looks like a drama.”
The human right activist also stated that the Rivers people are being taken for granted and pushed to their limits, citing that the outcomes may not be favourable if this continues

“I think that they are pushing us to the limit, and I keep saying that Rivers people are resilient and peaceful, but this whole drama is becoming a laughable constitutional process… This is how ethnic cleansing and genocide start. The NSA needs to watch it because I respect Nuhu. This is when to tell the president the truth about what is happening. This is not right.
“They deceived us to say suspension, but now they are tilting towards the removal of Fubara.
“I took time out to look at the mandate the president gave him (Ibas); he was to make regulations. I don’t think in my mind he was sent to make appointments.
“I keep telling us that they plan to extend this so-called emergency rule when there are many states calling for emergency rule, but they are looking the other way.

“It’s very sad that they are taking us for granted, taking us for a ride, while thinking that they can do anything just to please Wike.
He urged the people of Rivers state to remain resilient and peaceful as this crisis will eventually come to an end.
