White Xbox Series X Sighted: Disc-Less and (Maybe) Upgraded

Microsoft might be prepping a surprise for gamers: a white, disc-less Xbox Series X console. Leaked images obtained by Exputer showcase a stark white version of the popular console, ditching the disc drive but retaining the familiar rectangular design of the current model.

Matching the “Robot White”

The leaked photos depict a console with a white coating similar to the “robot white” used on Microsoft’s smaller, $299 Xbox Series S. Interestingly, Exputer also reports potential internal upgrades for this white Xbox Series X, including an improved heatsink for better cooling. While The Verge hasn’t independently verified these upgrades, additional leaked documents support the authenticity of the photos. Microsoft has yet to comment on the rumors.

Price and Release Speculation

Exputer previously hinted at a June or July release for this white Xbox Series X, possibly priced $50-$100 cheaper than the standard $499 black model. This potential launch timeframe suggests a possible cancellation or delay of the previously leaked “Brooklin” console refresh.

The Mysterious “Brooklin”

Unveiled in leaked documents from the FTC v. Microsoft case, Brooklin was an unannounced disc-less redesign of the Xbox Series X. Unlike the white console in these recent leaks, Brooklin sported a more cylindrical design and was reportedly planned to launch with a new controller and Xbox Wireless 2 connectivity. Microsoft had a tentative $499 price tag and a November release window for Brooklin.

Xbox Chief Hints at Shifting Plans

Last September, Xbox head Phil Spencer acknowledged the Brooklin leaks, suggesting changes in Xbox hardware plans. “It is hard…because so much has changed,” Spencer stated on Xbox Wire, hinting at future announcements.

With the emergence of the white Xbox Series X leaks, gamers are left wondering: is Brooklin scrapped, or will it surface in a different form? Only Microsoft holds the answers, but one thing seems certain – exciting news for Xbox is likely on the horizon.
