The Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, stated yesterday that his participation in the coalition of opposition parties, ahead of the 2027 election, was not about positions but rather about replacing poor administration with better.
In reaction to rumours that he had reached an agreement with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to run as vice president in the 2027 elections, Peter Gregory Obi made this statement.
It was claimed that Atiku was willing to sign a written agreement and agreed to serve a single four-year term as part of the deal.
Plans for a significant opposition coalition, however, are being strictly guarded ahead of the general elections in 2027, and Atiku and Peter Gregory Obi’s agreement specifics are still being kept secret.
According to sources, the two powerful politicians are putting a lot of effort into creating a strong and workable coalition platform to take on the All Progressives Congress, or APC.
The creation of the coalition is viewed as a calculated attempt to bring Nigeria’s dispersed opposition together and pose a serious threat to the APC in the 2027 elections.
However, the opposition leaders are keeping quiet for the time being in order to finalise the specifics of their partnership.

Speaking on the sidelines of an event where he gave N10 million each to a school and hospital construction project run by the Anglican Church in Kubwa, Abuja, Peter Gregory PObi declined to confirm specifically whether such a pact actually existed.
The former Anambra State governor said: “I’m in coalition against hunger, a coalition against poverty, a coalition against ill health, politics for me is not about positions, it is about doing the right thing.
