The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Wole Oluyede, has said he does not have a political godfather, insisting that his support base comes directly from the people.
Oluyede made the remark during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
He explained that the electorate themselves represent his strongest backing, adding that his campaign is built on public trust rather than political sponsorship.
According to him, he has invested his resources, time, and energy in the state, with the aim of demonstrating that meaningful development is possible in Ekiti.
He also expressed concern about the fairness of the security situation in the state, alleging bias in the handling of political incidents.
Oluyede claimed that while some of his supporters had been arrested under unclear circumstances, alleged attacks involving opposition supporters had not received similar attention from law enforcement agencies.
He said such developments raise questions about neutrality and fairness in the electoral environment as the poll approaches.
