A high-profile coalition meeting that was attended by notable individuals including; Former governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi, and Atiku Abubakar descended into pandemonium when Jigawa State delegates stormed the venue to protest representation difficulties.

The disruption occurred at the Abuja Continental Hotel, where the National Political Consultative Group (North) had convened the meeting.

The meeting had raised speculations that it may be to in connections with ongoing talks on coalition to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

Despite claims that Atiku has selected Obi as his running mate for the 2027 elections, it is still unknown what platform the coalition will compete on.

Tensions quickly escalated when former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal announced a delegate to represent Jigawa State, sparking outrage among the state’s representatives.
A number of Jigawa representatives stormed the stage in protest, preventing the person from speaking and declaring that the people listed would not represent them.

Security forces, including DSS, Nigerian Police, and private guards, swiftly established a protective perimeter around important individuals including Atiku, Amaechi, and others as the altercation intensified.

After several minutes of appeals, the state’s voice was restored when Mustapha Lamido, son of former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, and another delegate were selected.
