I’ve never turned down Nigeria – Chelsea’s Tosin Adarabioyo reacts to Super Eagles link
Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo has refuted claims that he turned down a chance to represent Nigeria, asserting that he has never declined the opportunity to play for the Super Eagles.

The 27-year-old center-back made this clarification during a post-match interview following Chelsea’s 4-1 victory over Real Betis in the UEFA Europa Conference League final. Addressing the rising speculation about his international career, Adarabioyo stated that previous reports about his position were incorrect.
“Both of those reports are completely false. I’ve never turned down Nigeria, and I’ve never had any discussions with them about going to play for Nigeria,” he said.

The former Fulham defender, who joined Chelsea at the beginning of the season, explained that his recent focus has been on advancing his club career. He mentioned that during his last season at Fulham, there were informal discussions, but no formal commitments were made regarding international play.
“During last season, when there was some conversation, I told them I wanted to concentrate on club football. I was in my final year at Fulham and wanted to have a strong finish there.
Now that I’m at Chelsea, I want to focus on my first year here,” he elaborated.
Adarabioyo, who has played for England at youth levels and is eligible to represent Nigeria through his parents, suggested that he may soon make a decision about his international allegiance.

“I think now is the time for me to make a decision,” he added.
His comments come as Nigerian football authorities continue to seek eligible players from the diaspora to strengthen the national team ahead of upcoming major competitions.
