10-year-old boy kills father, injures brother in Anambra

A 10-year-old kid used a police officer’s service firearm to unintentionally kill his father, Inspector Okolie Amechi.

The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the tragedy, called it an accidental firing, and conveyed their profound sorrow for the loss.

State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Tochukwu Ikenga said that the youngster had no idea how his father’s AK-47 gun was doing.

He fired, killing Inspector Amechi by hitting him in the back. The officer’s second child also sustained hand injuries from the bullet.

“Regrettably, Inspector Amechi was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty at the hospital, while the second victim is responding to treatment,” Ikenga said.

The corpses of the deceased have been placed in the mortuary, he continued, and the AK-47 weapon has been found.

The command wished the injured youngster a quick recovery and sent its condolences to the late inspector’s family and friends.
