The Governor of Benue state, Hyacinth Alia is optimistic that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit today will put an end to the killings going on in the state.
Additionally, there are hopes that the gladiators’ political disagreements will be settled following Tinubu’s visit.
Governor Hyacinth Alia yesterday stated that Tinubu’s visit is an expression of his complete support for the state and its leadership. However of the much anticipated visit was not stated.

“With the deployment of all the arsenal in personnel and equipment in Benue, we are hopeful that everything being done will translate to an end to attacks and killings not only in Benue but in other parts of the country.
“The visit is also a signal to the people that the President is with their governors, fully supportive of the efforts to end the carnage,” Alia said.

The President will receive firsthand information about the invading militants’ activities while on the visit, along with all of the security and intelligence chiefs.

Additionally, during Tinubu’s visit, he will meet with Benue residents at a town hall to discuss more about how to put an end to the state’s crisis.

General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff, speaking on the development stated that troops are making a concerted effort to bring peace back to Benue.
He reassured them that the military was on their side.
