Lagos Governor Hails Coach Dreh’s Epic Swim for Mental Health Awareness
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, celebrated an extraordinary feat by Lagosian Dare Samuel Akinrodoye, known as Coach Dreh. Coach Dreh’s remarkable accomplishment involved swimming the entire 11.8km length of the Third Mainland Bridge in a staggering time of 2 hours and 33 minutes.
Governor Sanwo-Olu went beyond applauding Coach Dreh’s physical achievement. He recognized the noble cause behind the swim: raising awareness and advocating against suicide and depression.
Sanwo-Olu hosted Coach Dreh and his team alongside the commissioner of Youths, stating: “Great achievements often stem from noble causes, and today, we celebrate a remarkable feat…”
Highlighting Coach Dreh’s mission, the Governor continued, “On March 30th, 2024, he swam 11.8km across the Third Mainland Bridge… not just as a challenge to himself, but with a mission to raise awareness and campaign against suicide and depression.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu further emphasized the importance of Coach Dreh’s advocacy: “It was an honor to welcome Coach Dreh and recognize his incredible journey, highlighting the importance of his cause.”
The Governor concluded by commending Coach Dreh’s spirit: “Lagos salutes your courage and commitment, Coach Dreh. Your dedication to making a difference both in and out of the water is truly inspiring. Your story embodies the strength and resilience that define the Lagos spirit.”
