Governor Claims Smooth Primary, Others Allege Irregularities

APC Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, insists the All Progressives Congress (APC) held a successful governorship primary in the state, despite complaints from some candidates.

Aiyedatiwa emerged victorious with 48,569 votes, while his closest rivals received significantly fewer. However, some aspirants, including Mrs. Folakemi Omogoroye, have challenged the results, citing a lack of election materials and officials. Reports of violence in certain areas also surfaced, leading to canceled results.

Governor Calls for Proof, Emphasizes Unity

Governor Aiyedatiwa maintains those accusing the process of irregularities need to provide evidence. He downplays these claims as “hearsay” and emphasizes his presence at his own polling station. Aiyedatiwa has reportedly begun reaching out to other candidates, seeking a united front for the upcoming November elections.

Seeking Harmony Despite Friction

Aiyedatiwa downplays any personal conflicts with other candidates. He acknowledges their status as “family members” and highlights his existing relationships with them. The Governor is confident in their ability to work together despite the primary race.

Focus Shifts to Economic Inclusion

While addressing the media, Governor Aiyedatiwa also emphasized the importance of economic and financial inclusion for rural residents. He believes collaboration between the federal government, state governors, and the private sector is crucial in achieving this goal.
