A task force conducted raids on filling stations in Kwara amidst the fuel scarcity.

The Kwara State Government Task Force conducted raids on several filling stations within the Ilorin metropolis on Monday, warning attendants against hoarding fuel, which the government asserts unnecessarily burdens the masses.

According to a statement signed by Mashood Agboola, Deputy Chief Press Secretary of the Government House in Ilorin, the raid was part of the government’s efforts to tackle fuel scarcity in the state.

Prince Mahe Abdulkadir, the leader of the task force and Chief of Staff of the Government House, emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the fuel shortage. He stated, “This is a committee set up by His Excellency AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to see to the problem of fuel shortage. As a responsible and responsive government, we cannot be folding our hands watching. We have to ensure that the majority of our people enjoy the dividends of democracy.”

Abdulkadir urged the people of the state to remain patient and avoid panic-buying, reassuring them that the federal government has no intention of increasing fuel prices. He added, “We will make sure our people are not shortchanged.”

The inspected filling stations included Total Energies at Post Office Area, Rainoil Filling Station Asa Dam, NNPC Gerin Alimi, Total Energies Surulere, NNPC Surulere, and MRS Filling Station Oja-Oba, all located in Ilorin metropolis.
