Governor Alex Otti of Abia State recently met with supporters of a local lawmaker, Hon. Rowland Chinwendu. During the visit, Governor Otti emphasized his administration’s focus on good governance and recovering allegedly stolen funds.

Focus on Recovery and Progress

Governor Otti denied any personal vendetta, stating his main goals are progress and development for Abia. He specifically mentioned the N10 billion allocated for an airport project. Otti claims the project is nonexistent and demands the money be returned if it can’t be located.

Medical City and Continued Development

The Governor also announced plans for a medical city project to attract patients seeking advanced healthcare. He described his current efforts as a “rehearsal” for even greater progress in his second term.

Partnership and Praise

Otti acknowledged the support of Hon. Chinwendu and his group, highlighting their collaboration since the beginning of the current legislative term. He detailed a forensic audit revealing significant stolen funds, including the alleged missing N10 billion. The Governor called for the return of these funds to be used for the benefit of the people.

His message emphasized development goals: building roads, improving sanitation, creating jobs, and modernizing education and healthcare systems.

From Supporter to Collaborator

Hon. Chinwendu, representing Isialangwa South, expressed his commitment to supporting the Governor, especially considering they hail from the same area. He praised ongoing projects like the Umuikaa-Umuene road reconstruction and brought his supporters to showcase their appreciation for Otti’s leadership.

Divine Mission and Construction Boom

Other officials, including the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and the Mayor of Isiala Ngwa South, described Governor Otti’s arrival as a positive turning point. They view him as a leader on a mission to rebuild the state. Local leaders expressed their gratitude for the numerous construction projects underway and believe Abia is setting an example for other states to follow.
