Details revealed of the closed-door meeting between former president Goodluck Jonathan and ADC’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark
Nigeria’s former president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, was involved in a closed-door meeting with the national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, with regard to his proposed return to the helm of affairs in the 2027 Presidential election.
According to reports, the meeting was held in Abuja on Thursday, and the major topic of discussion was on Jonathan’s return to power in 2027.
The former president had hoped that picking an automatic ticket might have hit a brick wall, as Mark expressly told him that the only way to join the ADC party formally and engage in free and transparent primary elections. This was confirmed by an anonymous source who was privy to the meeting between the two statesmen.
The source further said, “His host was pleased to welcome him to his residence. He told him to join ADC if he wants to contest. It was clear at the meeting that PDP is not a likely option because of the plethora of cases and infighting.
“So far, the only option for Jonathan is to join ADC. Mark was, however, quick to tell him that there will be fair and transparent primary election.”
Goodluck further requested for them to meet later and review since they couldn’t get a clear-cut direction to having an automatic ticket.
