The Northern Elders Unity Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), has firmly called out FCT minister, Nyesom Wike alleging that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT and his political cohorts are planning to destroy the party and weaken opposition politics in Nigeria.
In a statement released at the conclusion of its 18th General Meeting, the Forum reiterated its faith in PDP Acting National Chairman Iliya Umar Damagum’s leadership.
The elders denounced what they saw as frantic attempts by some members to sabotage the upcoming National Convention, which is set to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16.

In a strongly worded statement, the National Secretary of the Forum, Abbas Sadauki, said the decision to defend the unity of the party was unanimous and unwavering.
“No amount of political intimidation, blackmail, or lies against the unity of the party will stop the successful organization of the national convention in Ibadan,” he declared.
Sadauki charged that certain National Working Committee (NWC) members were working with outside political forces to undermine the party from inside.
“Those misleading groups within the party to scuttle the convention are mere jokers — predators unleashed against the collective interest. Their unholy alliance with enemies of progress will soon end in political shame and regret,” he warned.
The Forum said that Wike’s political clout and personal aspirations were driving the PDP’s internal sabotage.
The Forum expressed complete support for the current leadership and praised Ambassador Damagum and other devoted supporters for their unwavering commitment to leading the party towards unification and renewal in advance of the general elections in 2027.

Additionally, the Forum warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the judiciary about political actors purportedly trying to subvert democracy by manipulating national institutions.
The Northern Elders Unity Forum reaffirmed its unwavering support for the PDP leadership and insisted that everyone must respect the National Executive Committee’s (NEC) decision to move on with the convention.
