The Enugu State Government has confirmed the arrest of one Ozioma Okonkwo for allegedly defiling his two biological daughters, aged two and five.
On the evening of Saturday, October 25, 2025, Okonkwo, an Imo State resident living in Enugu, was taken into custody after a worried citizen reported the unsettling episode to the authorities.
The state Ministry of Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development made this announcement in a statement on Sunday.

The statement claims that the suspect is being held by the police and will face charges in court after the investigation is over.
The ministry also disclosed that the two children have been placed in a shelter authorised by the government, where they are receiving both medical attention and psychological treatment.
Under the guidance of the ministry’s social welfare and counselling team, their mother, who has been described as severely traumatised, will also receive therapy.

Meanwhile, the social welfare and counselling division of the ministry will oversee their mother’s therapy, as she has been described as severely traumatised.
“The Enugu State Government commends the Nigeria Police Force for their swift and professional response, which led to the prompt arrest of the suspect,” the statement read.

“No child should ever have to endure such trauma, especially from those meant to provide care and protection.”
