The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has secured the conviction of Mr. Dare Adebowale Oladapo, a former Deputy Director at the Kwara State Directorate of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, for age falsification and fraudulent collection of salaries and allowances for four months after his official retirement.

The judgment was delivered by Justice Ibrahim Yusuf of the Kwara State High Court, Ilorin, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, under Charge No. KWS/64C/2022.
The case followed a petition filed with the ICPC by F. F. Ikebundu, Esq., an Ilorin-based lawyer from Ayo Ajomole & Co.
Investigations conducted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) revealed that the defendant, Mr. Dare Adebowale Oladapo, falsified his date of birth to unlawfully extend his years of service, thereby gaining an undue advantage.

ICPC prosecuting counsels, Kalu Ugbo and Zainab Moshood, informed the court that Oladapo’s fraudulent actions resulted in the illegal receipt of salaries and allowances totaling ₦1,233,258.95 between 2019 and 2020.
In Count One, the defendant was charged with corruptly altering his date of birth at the National Population Commission to prolong his public service career—an offence contrary to Section 25(1)(a) and punishable under Section 25(1)(b) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.
Count Two similarly accused him of violating the same sections of the Act.
The charge further stated that the defendant made a false statement on oath in an affidavit dated February 15, 2012, wherein he claimed a falsified date of birth, November 11, 1964, instead of November 11, 1959, and subsequently used it to alter his official records at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, where he had served since 1997.
