Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, on Sunday signed an executive order mandating the immediate processing and settlement of all outstanding pensions and gratuities owed to verified retirees in the state.

A statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Yusuf Sanda, noted that the directive reflects the governor’s strong commitment to ensuring the welfare of senior citizens who dedicated their careers to serving the state.
“Taraba State must honour those who have dedicated their lives to public service. Their dignity is non-negotiable, and attending to their welfare is our moral duty,” Kefas said.

As part of the new measures, a special outreach team, Governor Kefas stated, will be dispatched to all local government councils, wards, and villages to identify and document retirees who are alive but incapacitated, ensuring they receive their entitlements without difficulty.
The Ministry of Finance has also been mandated to submit weekly compliance reports directly to the Governor’s Office, with Kefas warning that no administrative delays will be tolerated.
The government assured pensioners that the payment process is being handled with urgency and urged them to remain calm as implementation begins.
