Armed bandits attacked Tarah community in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Tuesday night, abducting nine residents and injuring one person.
The assault occurred just days after the community’s vigilante group was redeployed to Katsira, leaving Tarah vulnerable.
Local residents said that youths quickly mobilized to confront the attackers, helping to prevent a more devastating outcome.
Speaking on the issue, the spokesman of the Sokoto State Police Command, DSP Ahmad Rufai, said the Divisional Police Officer in Sabon Birni had not yet briefed the state headquarters.
He added that as soon as he gets details of the attack, he will release appropriate information to the press.
