Governor of Imo and national coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Hope Uzodimma has stated that President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms are beginning to yield results despite the pains experienced by citizens.

Prior to Tinubu taking office, Uzodimma compared Nigeria to “a barren woman” when speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) South-West stakeholders’ gathering in Lagos.

According to him, the president introduced the “fertility drugs” needed to boost economic output and put the nation on a course for long-term growth.

“Nigeria was like a barren woman looking for a child before President Bola Tinubu came,” Uzodimma said.

“He introduced the fertility drugs needed. Yes, they came with pains, but we are seeing results. We are not after excuses. We are interested in results.”

The governor made his remarks soon after the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), a two-day gathering in Lagos when party leaders discussed the country’s current situation, continuing reforms, and the escalating insecurity.

Uzodimma, who represented the APC governors collectively, thanked Nigerians for their “resilience” in the face of economic hardship brought on by the federal government’s policy changes.

The governor emphasised that Nigeria would eventually vanquish rebels and bandits in response to the recent spike in kidnappings and terrorist acts in various parts of the nation.

He questioned the sources of funding for criminal organisations, stating that political will and unity are necessary to combat insecurity.

“God made Tinubu possible. Of late we have seen the level of insecurity and banditry increase. Who are the people funding these criminalities? Progressive governors are united. Nigeria must win,” Uzodimma said.

Speaking about his position as the Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ national coordinator, the governor stated that the movement’s goal is to spread awareness of the administration’s programs throughout the nation.

According to him, the ambassadors will work at the zonal, state, municipal, and ward levels, directly supporting Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Ward Development Program.

Uzodimma added that one of the key targets of the new structure is to ensure the establishment of at least 1,000 active businesses in every ward, leveraging the significant fiscal boost states are now receiving.
