President Bola Tinubu has described his wife, Oluremi, as his “truest friend and confidante” as she celebrates her 66th birthday.
In a birthday tribute posted on his verified X handle on Monday, Tinubu praised the First Lady for her patience, courage, compassion and unwavering support throughout their years together.
The President said Oluremi had shared his challenges and offered guidance during difficult moments. He described her as the woman who had stood by him through the different phases of his life.
“Today, I celebrate the woman who has walked beside me with patience, grace and uncommon courage. Àwọn àgbà sọ pé, ‘Ìyàwó rere ni adé ọkọ rẹ̀.’ A good wife is her husband’s crown,” he said.
Tinubu added that First Lady Remi remained a source of strength and wisdom for him, saying she had given practical meaning to the biblical image of a virtuous woman.
“The burdens that were mine to bear often found their way onto your shoulders. The thoughts I could not put into words somehow found their way to you.
“In difficult times, when the future was uncertain, you stayed calm beside me and prayed with me,” he stated.
In addition President Tinubu described First Lady Remi as his “truest friend and confidante”, adding that she was never afraid to offer him honest counsel.
“I call you my truest friend and confidante because you speak the truth plainly, even on the days I would rather not hear it,” Tinubu said.

Oluremi Tinubu’s public life has closely followed some of the most important stages of Bola Tinubu’s political career. Before becoming Nigeria’s First Lady, she had already served as First Lady of Lagos State and later built an independent political career as a senator.
First Lady Remi entered the National Assembly as the senator representing Lagos Central. She retained the seat in 2015 and again in 2019, making her the first woman to serve three terms in the Nigerian Senate.
Her return to the role of First Lady came on May 29, 2023, when Bola Tinubu was sworn in as president. The transition also brought her humanitarian work into a broader national platform through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), which has focused on interventions involving women, children, education, healthcare and vulnerable Nigerians.
