The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has disclosed the cause of the car accident involving its newly elected president, Abubakar Yakubu.
The revelation was made in a statement released on Thursday by the outgoing president, Emeka Rollas.
Reacting to the viral news of the incident, Rollas stated that “Yakubu cooperated fully with law enforcement and emergency responders as a law-abiding citizen.”

He further revealed that the fatal accident was caused by “unexpected mechanical brake failure, claiming the life of a child and injuring the child’s mother, who is currently receiving medical care.”
Recall that Abubakar Yakubu was arrested in Lagos on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, after being involved in a tragic accident in Surulere.
The incident occurred less than 72 hours after he was elected as the AGN’s president on Saturday, 6 December 2025. He emerged winner after defeating actress Rita Daniels.
