Actress Regina Daniels’ mother, Rita Daniels, has failed in her bid to become President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN.
The election, held on Saturday during the Guild’s annual general meeting in Benin, Edo State, saw Rita Daniels lose to the AGN National Secretary, actor Abubakar Yakubu, who will now take over from Emeka Rollas as the new President.
Yakubu secured 116 votes to edge out Rita who got 113 votes, with three ballots declared void.
Yakubu’s victory makes him the first Northern actor to lead AGN since its establishment in 1990s.
This came a few weeks after Emeka Rollas who claimed that Regina Daniels needs help, advised Rita to prioritise her daughter’s well-being rather than contesting the AGN elections.
