The meeting, which took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, was reportedly aimed at addressing the union’s concerns ahead of its planned nationwide protest over escalating insecurity.

The meeting included key government figures like the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State; Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State; Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State; and the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Honourable Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.

Leading the labour delegation was NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero.

The closed-door session comes just a day before the NLC’s mass action scheduled for December 17.

No official details on the outcome of the talks have been released yet, but there are indications that the discussions may focus on averting the planned demonstration and finding common ground on national challenges.

This development follows the NLC’s firm stance earlier in the week that there would be “no going back” on the protest, underscoring the urgency of addressing citizens’ grievances.
