With the theme Tomorrow’s Healthcare Today, the event gathered students, healthcare professionals, innovators, policymakers and community leaders ready to reimagine how Nigerians access and deliver health services.

More than 550 participants filled the venue, buzzing with energy and fresh ideas. There was a sense that this was not just another conference but a turning point where youthful creativity met real national needs. The fair demonstrated that Nigeria’s young people do not want to wait for better health systems; they are building solutions now.

Prof. Ademola Oremosu, acting on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, affirmed the institution’s commitment to empowering young people to lead innovation in health. As he spoke, the room was reminded that Nigeria’s future depends on the skills and passion of its youth.

Conversations That Shape Tomorrow’s Health Sector

The opening keynote by Dr. Mujidat Babah of eHA Clinics emphasised the importance of creating sustainable and equitable health systems in Nigeria. She outlined practical frameworks that healthcare startups and policymakers can adopt to build a health ecosystem that works for all Nigerians. Dr. Lawal Wakeel Olaide, representing the Minister of State for Health, echoed this sentiment, highlighting that collaboration across sectors is the backbone of lasting health equity.

Other speakers brought diverse perspectives to the discussions. Chisom Mefor from the Digital Health Interoperability Network spoke passionately about the role of data in transforming health delivery. Adekunle Dalton-Oke of ABC Health tackled the challenge of attracting private capital into the health tech space. Meanwhile, Adedayo David Ojo of TechCabal highlighted the impact of interoperable systems for scaling digital health solutions nationwide.

Workshops at the fair were not just theoretical. They offered hands-on learning experiences. AWS/Cloud Plexo demystified cloud-powered solutions for healthcare, while NITHUB introduced secondary school students to the fundamentals of artificial intelligence in health. These sessions made it clear that tech skills are becoming fundamental tools for improving Nigeria’s health system.

Young Innovators Take the Stage

One of the most energising parts of the day was the Northwest Petroleum Secondary School Innovation Competition. Young minds from across Lagos competed with ideas that used technology to address real health challenges. International School, University of Lagos clinched first place with a creative health-tech solution that impressed judges and guests alike. Other top performers included Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Vetland Senior College, and Queen’s College, Yaba.

At the Tech Expo, innovators showcased cutting-edge applications with the potential to change how Nigerians access healthcare. Startups such as WellMama focused on maternal health support, SerielleHealth showcased tools for digital health data optimisation, and Dycovue demonstrated innovations in diagnostic imaging that could bring affordable and accurate diagnostics to more Nigerians. These displays were not only impressive but spoke directly to challenges that have long plagued the health sector.

Participants also dived deep into a panel discussion on Digital Health and AI, exploring how artificial intelligence and emerging technologies can improve patient care, streamline clinical workflows and support data-driven decision-making in hospitals and clinics across Nigeria. This discussion reflected a wider trend in the sector, where digital tools are increasingly seen as essential to modern health delivery. Recent healthcare summits and forums have also highlighted the urgent need for digital transformation in Nigeria’s health system and for investments in digital health skills across Africa.

Government, Private Sector and Community Align for Impact

Support from government representatives underscored the importance of youth contributions to national health ambitions. Dr. Toni Adeyemi, speaking on behalf of the Lagos State Government, reinforced the official commitment to adopting digital health solutions and investing in young innovators who are shaping future healthcare systems.

The closing remarks by Rad Bayode Oke Thomas, Senior Special Assistant on Wealth Creation, challenged the nation to think bigger. Nigeria should strive not only to improve health outcomes at home but to emerge as a leader in health innovation on the global stage. His call for deeper investment in youth-led innovation and cross-sector partnerships resonated with everyone in attendance.

The STACK Reform Health Fair 2025 went beyond showcasing ideas. It offered a blueprint for Nigeria’s healthcare future where technology, collaboration and youthful energy work together to tackle long-standing challenges. Participants left inspired, with a shared understanding that the future of healthcare in Nigeria is bright when young innovators are empowered, supported and given a platform to drive change.
