The US airstrike on terrorists in Sokoto on Christmas Day, following the President of the United States’ order (POTUS), has drawn many reactions online, and one of them is from the popular Nigerian Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi.
Gumi condemned the strike at the behest of Donald Trump and urged the Nigerian government to sever ties with the United States and seek assistance from Turkey. This statement caught the attention of Pastor Nick Donnelly of Protect the Faith.
Pastor Nick called for the arrest of Sheikh Gumi regarding his statements about the Nigerian government seeking assistance from Turkey while cutting ties with the United States.
NaijaEyes Blog reports that hours later, Pastor Nick, through his X (formerly Twitter) handle, quoted a video from CBN Newswatch, which stated, “An Egyptian TV news program says that Turkey is clearly a terrorist state with a broad reach. It reports that Turkey is supplying weapons to the terrorist group Boko Haram in Nigeria.”
Seeing this, Pastor Nick said it’s little to no wonder Gumi wants Nigeria to create ties with Turkey, who may be involved in something sinister.
The cleric wrote, “Egyptian TV news reports that Turkey is funding Islamist terrorists in Nigeria.”
“No wonder Gumi wants Turkey militarily involved in Nigerian security.

“Turkey is funding the Islamist genocide of Christians in Nigeria. Gumi is an enemy of Nigeria and must be arrested to save Nigerian lives.”

There have been several reactions from social media users following Pastor Nick’s call for Sheikh Gumi’s arrest.
@FCarlos34227 wrote, “War will break out one day unless international community intervene as it happened in Somaliland. If US or Israel endorse #Biafra for independence now, We will cut our oil pipe and strengthen our security for possible attack that might come from Nigeria. We are productive.”
@okpalagenesis also added, “Gumi and his family has deep ties to the British, British used them as a tool for indirect rule. They have brainwashed lots of men from the North in the government and the military. Nigeria needs to be divided else this Islamization will spread like cancer.”
