Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has officially declared his intention to run for the Kogi Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, positioning himself to challenge the incumbent senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Yahaya Bello made the announcement during a courtesy visit to the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, where he met with traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other key stakeholders from the senatorial district.
In his address, the former governor formally accepted the calls for him to contest and affirmed his readiness to represent the district in the National Assembly.

The event reportedly drew the presence of Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, alongside several political leaders and community figures.
Bello previously served as governor of Kogi State from 2016 to 2024.
Currently, the Kogi Central Senatorial District is represented by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who won the seat in the 2023 elections, according to reports.
