The blaze broke out in a commercial building adjacent to the GUO Transport Company terminal in Ikotun, Lagos.
Items destroyed included household appliances such as televisions, washing machines, and power generators.
A local resident told our correspondent that neighbours quickly sprang into action to prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the building before emergency responders arrived.
According to the resident, community members made frantic efforts using water to contain the flames until officials from the Lagos State Fire Service got to the scene.
He praised the firefighters for their swift intervention, noting that their prompt response prevented what could have escalated into a much larger disaster.
“Without their timely action, the entire building could have been consumed by the fire, and it might have spread to nearby structures,” he said.
The cause of the fire has not been officially established, although the resident speculated that an electrical fault may have triggered the incident.

It was gathered that the affected area was cordoned off by authorities, while no injuries or fatalities were recorded.
The incident adds to a series of recent fire outbreaks in Lagos, including those at the Great Nigeria Insurance building on Lagos Island and the Arena Market in Oshodi within the past eight days.
