Resident Doctors’ Strike Plans Crushed by Powerful Court Ruling

The National Industrial Court of Nigeria sitting in Abuja has restrained the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) and its members from proceeding with the strike earlier scheduled to begin on January 12.

Justice Emmanuel Subilim issued the restraining order to Resident Doctors on Friday while ruling on an ex parte motion filed by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF).

The order followed submissions by the Director of Civil Litigation at the Federal Ministry of Justice, Maimuna Lami Shiru, who led a team of government lawyers in presenting the motion.

The National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Abuja, has stopped the National Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, and its members from embarking on the strike scheduled to commence on January 12.
