There was an exchange of gunfire between Nigerian troops and suspected terrorists in Obajana town, Kogi State, on Saturday night, as security forces intensified ongoing clearance operations in the area.
Obajana Town is home to Dangote Cement, Africa’s largest cement plant, which produces 16.25 million metric tonnes of cement annually (Mta).

According to security officials, the armed individuals were confronted by the army after they were allegedly seen trying to enter the neighbourhood. As gunfire reverberated throughout the town, several residents allegedly sought cover as a result of the altercation.
Zagazola Makama, a security analyst, stated on Sunday via his X handle that the trade happened on Saturday evening.

He claimed that the terrorists who were trying to infiltrate the community were confronted by the army.

“Troops are engaging the terrorists who were reportedly attempting to infiltrate the community,” he wrote on X.
As at the time this report was filed, the Defence Headquarters had not yet made an official statement regarding the occurrence.
