Over ten terrorists linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) are said to have been killed by Nigerian Air Force (NAF) air strikes in coordinated attacks around the Timbuktu Triangle and other areas of Borno and Yobe states.

The precision air strikes on Tuesday were executed by the air component of Operation Hadin Kai using real-time intelligence obtained by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Zagazola Makama, a publication that focusses on the Lake Chad region, reports that surveillance initially discovered a group of roughly ten ISWAP fighters, armed with bicycles and motorcycles, beneath a big, thick tree along the Ambia Tasha, Ambia Sheruri, Ambia Turo, and Shangamaru axis in Yobe. There were indications that additional fighters were concealed in a nearby canopy.

Following authorisation, the air component used precision munitions to engage the target, destroying terrorist vehicles and equipment.

Zagazola said post-strike assessment confirmed significant casualties, with only one individual seen escaping the impact zone.

According to the report, the actions are a part of continuous attempts to limit ISWAP’s mobility, interfere with their supply routes, and safeguard northeastern villages.

Military sources said aerial surveillance and targeted air strikes — in close coordination with ground troops — will continue until the remaining threats are eliminated.

Earlier this month, terrorist hideouts were demolished, weapons and supplies were destroyed, and multiple combatants were killed in airstrikes conducted throughout the northeast and northwest.

The actions were carried out between January 1 and 2 by joint task forces under Operation Hadin Kai and Operation Fasan Yamma Sector 2, according to a statement from Ehimen Ejodame, director of public relations and information at NAF headquarters.
