Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (Rtd), has clarified why no bodies were recovered after the recent United States airstrikes in Nigeria, explaining that the sophisticated weapons deployed left no physical remains.

Speaking on ARISE Television’s Prime Time on Thursday, Musa said the terrorists were eliminated using advanced weaponry, including Tomahawk missiles, whose destructive capacity made it impossible to find visible traces afterward.
“They wouldn’t know, because the way they were neutralised, you wouldn’t see anything. It’s a new kind of weapon that was used, the Tomahawks,” he said.
When asked about reports that some of the Tomahawk missiles did not explode, the Minister of defence chief said such outcomes were part of military strategy.

“That is all part of the tactics. In conflict attack, you deceive your enemy. Those are all part of it,” Musa said.
He added that the operations had yielded results and assured Nigerians that more successes would follow.
“At least Nigerians are seeing the results, and they will see more things coming ahead,” he said.
Minister of defence Musa also disclosed that while the US operation was ongoing, Nigerian security forces were simultaneously carrying out coordinated attacks on other targets.
“As we speak, the Nigerian Air Force, the Nigerian Navy and the Army were also neutralising a lot of other areas. In fact, from within January, a lot has been achieved,” he added.
