Decrying the trend, Naira Marley claimed that only a handful of Nigerian artistes, himself included, have not been involved in cult activities.
He also took a swipe at artistes who join cults in search of power or protection, noting that even those who encouraged them to do so still rely on police escorts for their own security.

On his X handle, the rapper wrote, “We no reach 5 weh never join cult for this [music] industry. Person weh put u for cult self dey carry police escort up and down.”
Meanwhile, Naira Marley has previously debunked rumours that he is a cultist, claiming that he was once threatened by cultists for refusing to join.
