The disaster struck Enga province when a portion of Mount Mungalo collapsed, engulfing homes and inhabitants in the early hours of Friday.

The national disaster center’s communication to the United Nations underscores the urgent need for aid, highlighting the blockage of the main route to the significant Porgera gold mine and the ongoing danger posed by shifting terrain.
