The Yobe State House of Assembly has set up an ad-hoc committee to probe multiple complaints regarding alleged misconduct by healthcare practitioners in hospitals across the state.

The Yobe committee is also tasked with assessing whether certain health facilities are facing a shortage of qualified medical doctors.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio, announced the committee’s formation during today’s plenary session, following the House’s return from its annual recess.
According to the Speaker, the committee will be chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Ya’u Usman Dachia, while Ahmed Musa Dumbol, Kachalla Ajiya Maina, Sanda Kara Bade, Saminu Musa Lawan, and Mohammed Ali will serve as members.
“Despite the significant achievements recorded in the health sector under the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni, the complaints raised by members of the public require thorough investigation to ensure appropriate solutions are implemented,” Mashio said.
In another development, the House has given accelerated consideration to a bill seeking to establish the Yobe State Senior Secondary Education Board.
The bill, which was presented by the executive arm of government, has passed its second reading on the floor of the House and has been referred to the House Standing Committee on Basic and Secondary Education for further legislative action.
The House has also received two executive bills seeking the establishment of a State Waqf Board as well as an Urban and Regional Planning Authority.
