Reports making rounds have revealed that three major opposition parties—the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), New Nigerian Peoples Party(NNPP), and African Democratic Congress(ADC) —are missing on the ballot papers for the Kano State House of Assembly by-election which held today Saturday 21.
The by-election is being held to fill two seats in the state legislature that are vacant because the former parliamentarians, who were NNPP members before to their deaths, passed away last year.

According to Arise News, “three major opposition political parties are missing on the Independent National Electoral Commission ballot for the by-election holding today in Kano.” The report added that “nine political parties, excluding PDP, NNPP and ADC, are boldly listed on the ballot papers.”
Despite INEC officials’ early arrival, it was previously reported that the by-election had poor voter turnout in a number of polling places around the Kano Municipal Local Government Area.

Security guards were positioned in crucial locations to maintain law and order and protect voters and election workers. While many polling stations had only a small number of voters waiting to cast their ballots, observers observed “a strong presence of security personnel deployed across the area.”

INEC officials were seen seated and prepared, with electoral materials arranged, as they patiently awaited the arrival of more voters.
At the time of filing this report, neither INEC nor the Kano state govt had released any statement addressing the oversight.
