Gunmen suspected to be terrorists on Wednesday kidnapped four cocoa farmers at the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria in the Idi-Ayunre area of Ibadan.
According to reports some of the kidnapped victims were at the institute for a familiarisation visit.

According to a cocoa farmer who was able to escape the scene, the gunmen unexpectedly emerged from the jungle and stopped their car as they were travelling to the institute’s nursing section.
When contacted, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, texted NAN in Ibadan on Wednesday to confirm the incidence.
Olayinka reported that his car had been found and that one of the four abducted victims had been safely rescued.

He stated that the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and other tactical units had been instructed by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Femi Haruna, to support Divisional Police Officer Idi-Ayunre.
The recovered victim is currently in secure custody and is being debriefed, according to the PPRO, which also stated that operatives have started an intense bush combing operation.
