In his opening address, the party leader, Senator Emmanuel Yisa Orker-Jev, praised the state leadership for its efforts in strengthening the party’s structure and positioning it for future success. He urged them to remain committed and continue their work with dedication.
Orker-Jev asserted that ADC has emerged as the leading minority party in Nigeria, not just in Benue State, describing it as a formidable force ahead of the upcoming elections.
He dismissed claims of a united APC in the state, insisting that the party is deeply divided into factions. He also questioned why defections between APC factions are celebrated as though individuals were joining from entirely different political parties.
The senator further alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue operates as an extension of one of the APC factions, maintaining that ADC remains the only “virus-free” political party in the state.
He revealed that more than 10 qualified aspirants are vying for the ADC governorship ticket, alongside several others contesting for senatorial, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly positions. He emphasized that the party remains open to new members without restrictions.

Earlier, the Protem Chairman, Chief Terngu Tsegba, briefed members on the congress process, noting that elections will be held at the polling unit, ward, local government, and state levels. He also announced that nomination forms are available and encouraged interested aspirants to obtain them from the state party secretariat.
In a similar update, Rt. Hon. Chile Igbawua shared developments from the national secretariat, revealing that the National Working Committee (NWC) has received reports on policy formulation and the revised party constitution.
According to Igbawua, the updated constitution and policy framework position ADC as a people-focused party. He added that elected officials, including governors, will be required to strictly adhere to party policies and remain accountable to the party.
The meeting concluded with the inauguration of the State Elders Council, comprising representatives from all 23 local government areas, selected by the leadership team under the supervision of Vice Chairman, Prof. David Salifu.
