Late President Buhari’s son, Yusuf Buhari has announced his intention to run for a seat in the House of Representatives in 2027, according to Bashir Ahmad, a former special assistant on digital communications to the late Muhammadu Buhari.
Social media was sent into a frenzy with conjecture on Monday night after the disclosure of Yusuf’s purported interest in a seat in the House of Representatives.
In a letter dated April 3 and allegedly signed by himself, Yusuf Buhari announced his intention to run for the federal legislative seat for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua district on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.
“I am extremely delighted to inform you of my intention to contest for this position, as I aim to contribute to good leadership and bring development to our people,” the letter reads.
The announcement was also confirmed by Ahmad in a post on his X page, stating that the decision was made after thorough stakeholder engagements.
“Following wide consultations, Yusuf Buhari, the son of our late boss, President Muhammadu Buhari, has informed stakeholders of his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua constituency under the All Progressives Congress,” he wrote.
Yusuf’s Buhari’s announcement to run for the House of Representatives seat is his most notable political move to date because as not much has been heard from him since his father’s demise.
