The African Democratic Congress, or ADC, successfully wrapped up its national convention in Abuja on Tuesday despite INEC’S order.

A resounding majority of delegates amended the party’s constitution.

The party however proceeded to host its national convention and hold congresses in states despite the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) order to not oversee the ADC congresses and national convention due to a court injunction.

Stalwarts and supporters of the party met at the location, where they ultimately cast votes to change the party’s constitution.

The National Working Committee (NWC), chaired by Ralph Nwosu, was also immediately dissolved at the ADC’s NEC meeting, and the David Mark-led NWC took complete control of the party’s operations.

Speaking at the occasion, ADC National Chairman David Mark called the convention an “excellent performance” and said it marked the start of the party’s road to Aso Rock in 2027.

“Today marks the beginning of our journey to the Villa, and all of you here are part of this history. By next year, when we move to the Villa, I will remind you again,” Mark said.
