Ibrahim Galadima , the former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has died at the age of 74. 

Sani Ahmed Toro, a former NFA Secretary-General, confirmed his passing.

Kano Pillars, a football club he helped establish, also verified his death in a statement on Saturday.

The club further disclosed that the Galadima died after a protracted illness. It added that his janazah prayer will be held on Sunday at 10 am at Masallacin Waje, Fagge LGA of Kano.

Galadima oversaw the NFA prior to its reorganisation into the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), making him a significant role in Nigerian sports administration.

Galadima served as the NFF president from 2002 to 2006. He was replaced by Sani Lulu after the Super Eagles of Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2006 World Cup.

Additionally, from 1981 to 1983, he presided over the Kano State Sports Council.

Ibrahim Galadima, born on June 14, 1951, and when the club was founded in 1991, Kano Pillars referred to him as one of its “founding fathers.”

From 1977 to 1979, Galadima was the chairman of the Kano State Football Association. From 1981 to 1983, he then became the executive chairman of the Kano State Sports Council.

In 1984, the National Sports Commission added him to its caretaker committee in 1984. In 1985, the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC) chose Galadima as its first vice president, and he held the position until 1987.
