President Trump has confirmed that the US has intercepted an Iranian-flagged cargo ship in the Gulf as part of its naval blockade.

The US president stated on his Truth Social platform that the US Navy had taken control of the Touska after it disregarded a warning to stop. Iran declared that the “act of armed piracy” violated the ceasefire and that it will shortly take revenge.

The news followed the White House’s confirmation that US Vice-President JD Vance would head a second mission to Pakistan for a second round of negotiations to stop the war with Iran.

Meanwhile, this move comes shortly after Trump earlier renewed his threats to destroy Iran’s infrastructure over Hormuz closure.

Tehran is yet confirmed its attendance. However, Iranian state media has reported that officials will not participate while the US blockade remains in place.

President Trump also added that the US had given the vessel fair warning to stop, which was ignored, “so our Navy ship stopped them right in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engineroom”.

“The TOUSKA is under US Treasury Sanctions because of their prior history of illegal activity. We have full custody of the ship, and are seeing what’s on board!”

US Central Command later released a video purportedly showing a military warship intercepting a cargo ship. The footage shows a gun firing toward the vessel.
