The Agbu Kefas Continuity Movement has strongly dismissed the recent political declaration by Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, describing it as a “desperate political comeback” built on what it called falsehoods, manipulated figures, and misleading narratives about governance in Taraba State.
In a statement issued shortly after Bwacha’s announcement, the group said the former senator’s comments were “factually weak” and unsupported by credible evidence, adding that his speech appeared to be a recycled political message aimed at confusing the public.
The statement, signed by Mallam Ibrahim Ardo, coordinator of the movement, described Bwacha’s claims on debt, insecurity, and government performance as “exaggerated and fundamentally inaccurate.”
It further stated, “From the opening to the closing remarks, Bwacha’s declaration is filled with contradictions. This is not leadership; it is desperation disguised as ambition.”
The movement specifically rejected Bwacha’s claim that Taraba State’s debt rose from N237 billion to over N1 trillion, calling the figure “misleading and irresponsible.”
“This is not opposition politics; it is misinformation. The debt figure he mentioned is not backed by any verifiable record,” the statement said, challenging him to present credible documentation to support his claims.
Responding to his comments on insecurity, the group pointed out that Bwacha was able to hold his political declaration in Jalingo without any security incident, which it said reflects improved safety in the state.
“In 2022, insecurity and fear of kidnapping were widespread. Today, he addressed supporters in Jalingo without any incident. That is evidence of improved security,” it added.
The movement credited Governor Agbu Kefas’ administration with strengthening intelligence operations, supporting security agencies, and rebuilding public confidence across communities.
It also dismissed Bwacha’s criticism of transparency in governance, describing it as politically driven and contradictory.
“Bwacha is not in a moral position to lecture anyone on transparency. Tarabans still deserve answers regarding projects executed during his time in office, including costs, outcomes, and impact,” it stated.
The group further accused the former senator of relying on “unverified claims” due to a lack of factual backing against the current administration.
Reiterating its position, the movement said the Agbu Kefas administration has recorded measurable progress in security, education, and infrastructure development.
Describing Bwacha’s declaration as “heavy on rhetoric but light on substance,” the group urged residents to focus on what it called visible governance achievements rather than political rhetoric.
“This election will be decided by performance, not emotional speeches. People can see the progress on the ground,” it said.
It concluded by stating, “We defeated Bwacha in 2023. Nothing in his declaration shows progress or a new direction. Taraba will not go backwards in 2027.”
